Our new chief business correspondent

The great changes and challenges in the global economy - and what they mean for our viewers and listeners around the world - are dominant themes in our news programmes, pretty much on a daily basis.

And we're welcoming a terrific new member to our team reporting on these events. Linda Yueh has joined the BBC as our new chief business correspondent to be based in Singapore.

Start Quote

For the West rebalancing the economy refers to cutting back on consumption, producing more and reversing the decline of manufacturing. But for China, it means the opposite - raising consumption and reducing its reliance on exports.”

On Monday - her debut on BBC World News and the BBC World Service, Radio 4's Today and Radio 5 live, the News at Ten and the News Channel - she's been reporting from Hong Kong on how China is seeking to rebalance its economy. You can read about that here on her blog.

Linda is well known as an expert on China - as an academic at Oxford, as an author and as a broadcaster.

In the months to come, she'll be travelling very widely to chart the shifts not just in China but throughout Asia. You'll see and hear her reporting on the businesses and entrepreneurs whose products, services and innovations are a big part of our lives.

And as we look to examine the challenges and opportunities facing policymakers and business leaders, Linda will be keen to hear from you too. Already she's been taking questions on Twitter - and we'll be doing a lot more of that as often as we can. You can follow Linda on Twitter at @lindayueh.
